Got to feel a couple of the old versions of the rods at Academy two or three years ago. Basically an SLX with much more moderate actions. The cork handles are a plus and the light blue paint and accents look good. Felt like more of a moving bait rod to me in terms of bass fishing, but I'll wait to see what you have to say on that front. Good luck to ya.

Love your channel love all the reviews it got me into bfs fishing for sure. Watching this video and that rod reminded me of the one that I found for bfs bass fishing it’s the dobyns dx 702c it’s rated 1/8-1/2 oz and crisp action I love throwing it for bottom contact baits super sensitive baits like little 1/16oz tungsten Texas rigs and micro jigs in it so much fun. Not really a budget rod unfortunately but I got it through a buddy that had a coupon with them. Worth every penny I spent on it.

If im not mistaken, isnt the glf just the inshore/saltwater variant of the the slx?

Been using the glf in medium light for 2 years on smallies got the viedoes to prove it works well. Most inshore rods have the good action you want for bfs. Or at least the action i like.

The tip looks too soft for me. So bottom contact is not an option for that rod. I think the Shimano Majestic performs better. Maybe you can share your impressions in comparisson of these rods. Regards from Germany 🙌

I have Shimano scimitar with those same weight, ratings and length that I use for bfs I’ve had it 4 years now it’s great bfs rod

It's made for inshore wade fishing or kayak fishing in the flats where a shorter handle is nice , bfs fishing is becoming more popular in the gulf for inshore hopefully it will work out for bfs

Make sure when you're spooling your reel, the line comes off of the spool counter clockwise so that it is going onto the reels spool the same way it came off of the line spool, that also helps with backlash on all different types of reels.

My first baitcaster is a dawia aird100hl from japan. Tried to use whatever 6lb braid was on it from whoever in Japan, definitely needed a re-spool!

What you have done now is comarison like Formula 1 and Moto GP and say that is Ok because Formula 1 and motorcycle both have 500HP. As much as I respect and follow your movies, man, you are not right this time. Here in Europe you can come and see trout tournament where guys are fishing trout with main braid 0.04mm(not inch) and with lures weight of 2gr(in total)... Show me BFS baitcaster who will compete (in turnament) with spinning reel. Also show me asp fishing with baitcaster wher you Will reach 70m(not feet) with 14gr lure? i got confuse how come the old metanium got less range than 5 years ago you tested it against antares dc and it had average of 181,6 ft with 1/2oz lipless crank but now against the new metanium dc it got less range ? can you explained why it is like this ? thank for your time to compare all the good reels out there

I have done similar tests and I can confirm the result. Spinning reels with mono have no chance against baitcaster. Also done tests with braid. Bait caster still win with braid, but with less margin.

what i found out about the number 1 rotor is that it was meant for ultralight finesse lure n jig around 0.7 n 2 gram at most near halfway brake for it to work, i useally get 20 to 25yd cast with it but i am using 10 pound line varivas with 4 pound red labled seaguar but i think it all about the line u use

This reel is looking like serious competition for Shimano and Daiwa. The Chinese Reels are threatening for sure.

have you try the Loongze AirLite 50 DBC-1 (non-apps version); that reel is tiny (literally no joke) even compares to the Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS

Hey, Reeltest: love your videos. Inspired by them, I've been testing all my bfs and NON-BFS reels to see how they compare and how low they can go. It really helps to spool them all up with cheap, Chinese braid in multicolor, on which the braid changes color every 10 meters. I spool each of the bfs reels (23alde, 24cqbfs, and two Haibo Arise Elites) with 50m of line. Then, I can cast each and count the reel cranks to the next colorand then the colors to get casting distance. No line counter or guessing necessary. You can get 600m of 0.6gau line for about $6. It's a cheap and easy way to compare casting between reels. And if you want to fish, just attach a leader of fluoro.

Although I have already received this reel, I have yet to take it out. Glad to have some positive reinforcement from your video. On a side bar I just ordered the new Valiant Eagle II Pro version this morning, I know you are a fan of the VEII and the reason I purchased it myself was due in large part to your review. It was on sale this morning and it was barely over $50 USD with all different coupons and coins etc…Would love to see a side to side review of both VEII versions.

If you like small bait casters, my smallest is an ABU GARCIA, 3600 Black Max bought new at K - Mart in 1993, I still use it still today and still works perfect.
